Registration, Membership and Subscriptions

Whether you are a player or a non-player looking to be part of our vibrant community based rugby club, a warm welcome is assured to all at South Gower RFC. We have four flood lit great pitches and training grounds in a quiet location supported by our licensed clubhouse with kitchen, showers, changing rooms and toilet facilities.

With mutual success we are also able to boast one of the largest junior sections in the area, fielding teams at all age groups from youth (+16) down to under 6’s, all developing a rugby community cycle that will produce players for ours and hopefully regional senior teams of tomorrow.

A key element of the long term success of our community rugby club is to build a strong member / supporter / sponsor base. We have in excess of 400 people passing through the club most weekends where facilities need to be maintained, improved for the benefit of all playing and non-playing members.

The Club welcomes players of all ages and ability. If you are interested in joining the club please contact the Membership Secretary membership@southgowerrfc.com stating your age and date of birth to check if there is space in the squad. Squad sizes are limited by the WRU to prevent super clubs forming at the demise of neighbouring clubs. To join South Gower RFC you will need to become a member of the club itself and register as a player with the WRU. These are two separate processes.

Applying for Membership and Paying Subscriptions

We now operate an online membership database through a GDPR compliant operator WebCollect. All players and members are required to complete the online membership form so we may run the club effectively. The club operates subscription by direct-debit only system which is completed when completing the online membership form using GoCardless. GoCardless is one of the largest online payment partners through which you are fully protected by the usual Direct Debit Guarantees.

This is a vital change in order to monitor and control our cash-flow and to make sure that all members are contributing their fair share to the club-finances. This and an a lot of fund raising and sponsorship is the only way we can keep subscriptions at such a low level.

(to comply withGDPR and provide parental consents you must be over 18 to complete online membership)

Note:  Please note that membership is on an annual basis and direct debit membership payments are spread across 12 months. Those members who stop their payments in the closed season will forfeit the right to pay on a monthly basis and will required to make a single payment in full at the start of the new season together with any unpaid payments. Any members who do not make their payments will sadly be asked to leave the club.

Please note that “only players who have paid their membership” are covered by the R.F.U. insurance and eligible to play.  In some cases it might be prudent to take up additional insurance cover for your own personal use.

Membership subscriptions include the usual benefits of use of the clubhouse facilities, access to the draw for international tickets, voting rights, ability to stand for office etc. These and so much more are all incorporated into the membership subscription.
