The State Of Welsh Rugby And The Urgent Need For Change

Amid great uncertainty around the future of Welsh rugby, our Youth coach Andy Moore shares his honest reflections on the state of the game in Wales

This season, we’ve struggled to find the words to express how we feel about the current situation in Welsh rugby. However, in this articulate and thought-provoking article former Swansea RFC player, Welsh international, and current Head Coach of our Youth section, Andy Moore, perfectly sums what South Gower RFC has achieved at grassroots level.

As a club, we’ve connected the dots and made a pathway at a community level - there is no doubting its success.

We believe that the WRU is not acting in the best interests of our game and needs to recreate the link between grassroots and professional rugby.

The lack of communication, transparency and planning feels like a massive gamble and not a chance worth taking.

We therefore ask the WRU to pause their plans immediately. Failing that, we call on all clubs in Wales to make the change via an EGM.

Four regions are the minimum, so let's back the clubs and make a plan that works.
